Mr. Figueroa completed the third grade at home in Puerto Rico. He has had no further formal education, although he gives the impression of being bright and well-informed.

Since coming to the mainland, Mr. Figueroa has held a number of positions in manufacturing and service industries. With the exception of a few brief periods between positions, he has been continuously employed. He retired in 1993, and currently supports himself, his wife (who never worked outside the home) and his adult son on a small pension and social security.  

Mr. Figueroa reports being satisfied with the resources available to him.
