Cultural factors of importance to Mr. Figueroa Mr. Figueroa has continuing ties to several siblings still living in Puerto Rico. He seems to have a relatively realistic picture of life back home, recounting fond tales of experiences there, but also noting that his family lived in poverty. Mr. Figueroa speaks English quite well; his English is self-taught as he never continued his education upon moving to the mainland. His wife is not Hispanic, but Mr. Figueroa retained some traditions, particularly in terms of occasional preparation of traditional foods and in terms of religious observance. Mr. Figueroa enjoys activities at the Hispanic Senior Center where he speaks Spanish with friends, and has access to lunches that include traditional Puerto Rican foods. His health beliefs and other wellness practices are not particularly linked to Hispanic traditions. Have all the information you need? Click here Need more information? Click here |
