Transportation Issues

Mrs. Phillips no longer drives, and her physical limitations make use of regular public transportation difficult. In addition, she would need to walk at least ½ mile to get to the closest bus-stop—an impossibility given her limited mobility.

Her family members often provide transportation for instrumental purposes (grocery shopping and doctor’s appointments, for example). Mrs. Phillips rarely leaves home for leisure activities other than visiting her family.  She does not sound particularly disturbed by these limitations.

Overall, transportation is an occasional problem. A greater problem is the physical limitations that keep her relatively home-bound.
