Medicare Mandated Assessment

Mrs. Phillips is receiving home health care. Medicare provides such assistance, but only under a very restricted set of circumstances. To ensure that care is covered, therapists must conform to Medicare requirements, and should familiarize themselves with required assessments (as well as treatment planning and progress recording requirements). Every provider must follow these guidelines. Neither occupational nor physical therapy may be involved in the case (unless through family private pay, which Mrs. Phillips and her family cannot afford) until requested by a case manager who has completed the required initial evaluation.
