Recalling earlier class discussions on reinventing the Emperor in Meiji Era Japan (1868 -1912) and on the "soft power" influence of Japan on contemporary American popular culture (and vice versa), in the long run which nation -- Japan or the United States -- do you think has been more influenced by the other. Why? What evidence might you provide to support that supposition?
