TASK ASSIGNMENT EVALUATION STANDARDS
A total of six assignments, two each randomly chosen from
among those submitted to the instructors during the initial three sections of
the course, will be evaluated utilizing the following criteria:
- gives evidence
that the assignment has been completed: remember that you need to
convince the instructors that you have done the assigned reading or
completed the assigned task(s) as requested; be sure to incorporate
evidence, insights or illustrated examples derived from that effort in
your submitted written work
- addresses
question(s) posed appropriately and in a focused manner: answer the
question asked fully without including extraneous or unnecessary
information; keep to the point and be succinct.
- provides
accurate and complete factual information: get your facts straight;
include examples and illustrations to clarify and support any
generalizations
- incorporates
thoughtful and insightful interpretation and analysis, if requested: include
evidence of intelligent thinking taking place; link your perceptions of
the assignment to the content and goals of the course whenever possible
- communicates
effectively and efficiently: write carefully, taking diction, grammar
and spelling into account; proofread your work to catch inadvertent
errors; be neat
Assignments evaluated against these standards will be awarded
between 1 and 10 points each (towards a total PARTICIPATION point total of
60). Graded work will be returned shortly after
the completion of each of the first three units in the course. Late assignments will be accepted ONLY if they
are meant to replace one of your three “Get Out of Homework Assignment Free”
attendance passes (or if prior arrangements have been made with an instructor).
