Czech Garden Main Page

Rollover image with a historical photograph of a tree planting ceremony and a photograph of the plaque commemorating the 1939 visit by the President of Czechoslovakia.

"This event typified the transplanting to the new world of the ideals of freedom and the rich culture of the Czech people, who first came to America as early as 1648..."

Among the trees planted in the Czech Cultural Garden were several linden trees planted on 1 April 1939, by President and Mrs. Edverd Benes of Czechoslovakia.
