A monument, as a symbol of Estonian culture and traditions,
will be unveiled today at 2 p.m. at Estonian Cultural Gardens,
Liberty Boulavard, N.E. The monument is
a gift from the Greater Cleveland Estonian community to the city.
Ernst Jaakson, consul general of
Estonia,
will speak at the ceremonies. Mayor Ralph S. Locher
will accept the monument.
The monument was designed by sculptor Clarence E. VanDuzer
and architect Herk Visnapuu.
It is inscribed: “But the time will come when all torches will burst
into flame at both ends.” A flame at the top symbolizes hope for a
brighter future.
