Johann Sebastian Bach: (1685-1750) German Composer Johann Bach was born in Eisenach, Germany on March 21, 1685. Bach was renowned as a virtuoso organist for which he composed a prodigious amount of music, although his choral and chamber music received great acclaim as well. Deeply religious, much of Bach's music overtly expresses religious themes, and he spent nearly all of his career in a Lutheran church position- as Director of music and kantor of the Thomasschule in Leipzig. Johann Sebastian Bach died in Leipzig on July 28, 1750.
