| Ludwig van Beethoven: (1770-1827) German Composer Ludwig van Beethoven was born in Bonn, Germany on December 17, 1770. Beethoven settled in Vienna in 1792, where he studied with Joseph Haydn and others, quickly establishing himself as a remarkable keyboard-player and original composer. By 1815 he realized he was losing his hearing and had to give up concert work Online Dictionary. Even when deafness totally overtook the composer, Beethoven continued to write compose completely in his mind, unable to listen to the music in any other way. Ludwig van Beethoven died at the age of 56 in Vienna on March 26, 1827.
