Cultural Gardens in Historical Context

STUDENT OBJECTIVES:

¨      To explore the history and meaning of the Cleveland Cultural Gardens.

¨      To examine one garden in depth in order to understand the elements (i.e. layout, significance, and function) of a cultural garden.

¨      To examine the 1960’s racial conflicts in Cleveland.

¨      To design a plan for an African-American garden which will include significant figures, events, organic materials, and history of the migration of African-Americans.
