** Shaker Heights High
School & Warrensville Heights High School
**Course: American History (1877-Present), Grade: 10th
grade
** Goals/Objectives
of Unit:
1.
This section of the unit will
attempt to provide a list of primary sources for secondary students. In
this case the sources mentioned in the unit description below will allow
the students to take an in-depth look at immigration to Cleveland from 1880 to the present.
2.
Using materials drawn from the
diversity of human experience, students will analyze and interpret significant
events, patterns and themes in the history of Ohio,
the United States
and the world.
3.
While role-playing (acting as
actual federation members) and using their own creativeness, the students
will be encouraged to promote peace and ethnic tolerance at all times
when incorporating their gardens specifics.
4.
By becoming a mini-federation,
tenth grade students will be demonstrating the ability to collect, organize,
evaluate and synthesize information from multiple sources and draw conclusions
from this information about social studies issues.
