INDIA EXPERIENCE: Realization of a dream
Sunday, August 5, 2001
Our final full day in the Indian soil. All of us were busy with the last minute
shopping and packing.
We arrived at the Thiruvananthapuram airport (20 minutes ride from Loyola College) at 3:40 p.m. for the 6:40 p.m. departure. Airport staff (Air India, Kerala Tourism, Immigration) were more than helpful to accommodate our special needs. Several host family members and Loyola staff were at the airport.
Our Air India flight left on time to Mumbai. From Mumbai, we will be travelling to London, New York and arrive Cleveland around 10:30 p.m. August 6, 2001. Keep in mind Indian Standard Time (IST) is 9 hours and 30 minutes ahead of our Eastern Standard Time (EST).
Tearful farewell to Sonny and Ammu Chechi (our cooks), George (our bus driver), Rajith (our Loyola program coordinator), Ambika (Loyola office assistant) and Vivek (photographer).
Our deep felt thanks to almost two hundred community based resources such as host families, guest lecturers, agency based professionals, media staffs, librarians, students and faculty members of six area colleges and University departments.
