Objectives:

        Instructional

  • Student will recognize the effects of apathy, indifference, and prejudice

  • Student will recognize the importance of exercising social responsibility

  • Student will gain an impressionistic understanding of the basic features of Jewish life within the context of pre-World War II Europe

  • Student will investigate continued acts of prejudice in modern society

        Performance

  • Student will maintain a journal based on readings and films, responding to provided prompts

  • Student will discuss his/her understandings, as well as misgivings of human nature, related to "life-altering experiences"

  • Student will work in small group to examine hate crimes in the United States

  • Student will present results in a research paper
