Haiti today is one of the poorest countries in the world.  At one time it was far richer than the United States.  What caused the slaves to revolt?  How could a group of mainly uneducated, non-military  people have won against the power of Napoleon's Empire?

This unit goes along with the Creation of Napoleon's Empire, Chapter 15, of World History for Christian Schools, published by BJ Press.  It can be easily adapted to fit any world textbook that has mention of Napoleon and his quest for power.
