The series of five quizzes required in the course has been designed to encourage you to synthesize the course material in a timely and worthwhile fashion.   
  
Each question is meant to be answered with specific reference to the lecture material covered in class, the assigned reading for the course and any additional preparation you might have undertaken (other reading, museum visits, film viewing).   
  
A typical quiz question response will take two and one-half to three and one-half pages to complete, typed and double spaced.   
  
The resulting brief essay will be evaluated according to this specific set of QUIZ EXPECTATIONS AND STANDARDS and should adhere to DEPARTMENT OF HISTORY STYLE SHEET requirements as well.  Each quiz is due on the date specified and should be completed before coming to class.
