HIS 372 / 572,
THE HISTORY OF EARLY MODERN JAPAN

JOURNAL ASSIGNMENT ONE: EXPECTATIONS

ASSESSING SKILLS

I need to be assured that students enrolled in this course know how to compose an appropriately-formatted, organized and well written analytical essay.

To successfully complete the course of study, students should already possess the needed skills, being aware, for example, of how to formulate a thesis statement, to document sources, to prepare a bibliographic citation or to structure an analytical argument.

Those without these skills will be severely handicapped. This assignment will demonstrate to me that you indeed have such skills (or are working diligently to acquire them).
