HIS 372 / 572,
THE HISTORY OF EARLY MODERN JAPAN

EVALUATION STANDARDS

The Research Essays required for HIS 372 / 572, THE HISTORY OF EARLY MODERN JAPAN, should be typewritten, double-spaced, and must contain appropriate annotation and a bibliography of sources used (not sources consulted).

To be considered complete, each essay must contain a readily identifiable thesis statement, a series of supporting generalizations and appropriate specific examples and illustrations.

Both essays must be analytical in approach (not descriptive) and the EARLY MODERN JAPAN RESEARCH PROJECT must be based on an instructor-approved TOPIC DESCRIPTION and WORKING BIBLIOGRAPHY. In meeting the above requirements, students should conform to the assignment description in both cases and to the standards established and described in the HISTORY DEPARTMENT STYLE SHEET.
