SAMURAI QUARTER

Kanazawa, as one of Japan's largest traditional
"castletowns", had a large residential area given over to the homes
of samurai warriors. That quarter of the city has been preserved to some
extent and now houses several streets
lined with buff-colored walls, craftshops and artist studios open to the touring
public.
