The Imperial Hotel sits in the midst of one of the world's most congested cities, yet manages to calm the spirit through the judicious placement of gardens near the entrance and on verandas adjacent to some of the hotel's public rooms.

This pattern is repeated endlessly throughout Japan. One is never far from a soothing garden space, even in the most crowded environment.
