George Mauersberger

Associate Professor of Drawing

George Mauersberger has taught at Cleveland State University since 1987. After completing the Foundation program at Pratt Institute in New York City, he received a B.F.A. in Drawing from Carnegie-Mellon University in Pittsburgh and an M.F.A. in Painting from Ohio University. Currently an Associate Professor, he has won awards in a variety of exhibitions including The May Show at the Cleveland Museum of Art, Realism Today at the Evansville Museum (IN), The Three Rivers Arts Festival (PA), and the New Orleans National Art Exhibition (LA). His work is included in the collections of Progressive Corporation, Key Corp., Bristol-Meyers Squibb, BP America, and Kaiser- Permanente, among others. In 1993, he was commissioned to create artwork for all luxury boxes at Jacobs Field in Cleveland. Recent juried exhibitions include the American Drawing Biennial at The College of William and Mary, Williamsburg, VA.; Paper in Particular National Exhibition, Columbia College, Columbia, MO.; Drawing from Perception Biennial, Wright State University Galleries, Dayton, OH.; and Shippensburg National Exhibition, Shippensburg, PA. In 1999, Mauersberger was named as an Individual Artist Fellowship recipient by the Ohio Arts Council. Mauersberger served as Art Department Chair from 1999-2003. His most recent solo exhibition was at the Bonfoey Gallery in Cleveland in 2005.
