Tree Navigation

There are many ways to navigate your way around a tree without having to use the mouse.

The tree is displayed in a table or grid with the root or trunk occupying the center column. The table grows as branches are decomposed. The number of rows in the tree is usually one or two more than are needed so that some rows are completely blank.

If there are columns in the table which are occupied but off screen, a horizontal scroll bar appears at the bottom of the table.

If there are rows in the table which are occupied but off screen, a vertical scroll bar appears at the right edge of the table.

<PgUp> goes to the top row on the screen and a second press moves up one screen.

<PgDn> goes to the bottom row on the screen and a second press moves down one screen.

At the bottom of a split branch there is a double pointed arrow. It points to the top entries in its descendent left and right child branches. If intervening columns are occupied, then in the row of the double pointed arrow there are also left and right pointing arrows.
