Differences Between the Macintosh and the Windows versions of LogicCoach 9

This file was written for the PC version of LogicCoach 9. The logic is the same but the programs are sligthly different in the way that they are operated due to differences between their respective operating systems.

The main difference is in the Menu System. The help file shows the PC Menu System which gives the user more options than does the Mac system. On the PC, all choices are made by holding down either the CONTROL or ALT keys while typing a letter from the keyboard. On the Mac, the choices are made while holding down the APPLE key. The letters are the same for the two versions with one exception. The Mac standard shortcut for closing a window is APPLE+W. The PC version follows both the de jure Windows standard of Ctrl+W and the de facto Windows standard of Ctrl+F4.

One way that the Mac version is easier to use than the PC is that while on both the work is checked from the Menu, on the Mac there is a keyboard shortcut to the Check Answer Menu, the ENTER key.

Vista Considerations

The Vista security model makes it difficult to send complete records to your instructor. One work around is to create and keep your records on removable media such as a USB drive. If you register as a new user, create the record file on removable media. When you return as a registered user then reopen the same record file. Finally, to share this record with your instructor, attach the file on the removable media to an email message that is addressed to your instructor.
