Community Connections

Euclid Corridor Project
The Department of History at CSU has embarked on the Euclid Corridor History Project, which is a collaboration of the CSU Department of History, Cleveland Public Art, Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority, and Ideastream (WVIZ and WCPN). Part of the public art component of the larger Euclid Corridor Transportation Project, student research and oral histories will inform or become an integral part of interpretive signage, audio histories, and artwork that will built as part of the larger transportation project. Successive history classes are contributing historical documentation of the history of Euclid Avenue between Public Square and East Cleveland to support this important urban revitalization effort. Each student in this course will contribute research—in the form of course binders and materials as well as oral histories—to the larger project. Moreover, students completing exemplary projects may be asked to present their findings to the RTA or other community leaders (which is purely optional.)
