The Educational Services Center at Cleveland State University conducts varied literacy and special services for children from the city of Cleveland and neighboring Cleveland area communities.

WHAT SERVICES ARE OFFERED?

Diagnosis & Assessment, Literacy Development & Tutoring for Academic Success & Special Ed Services (The following Case History Form needs to be completed in order for the student to be eligible  to participate in the Special Ed Services program).

Literacy  Assessment includes:

 

Identification of reading achievement levels

Analysis of literacy strengths and challenges

Recommendations and development of a tutoring plan

 

WHO IS ELIGIBLE? 

Students in K-9 public and private school programs. Enrollment and acceptance

depends upon the availability of openings in each of the program sections.

 

    Literacy Development & Tutoring (Fall and Spring) includes:

 

Reinforcement of strengths and development of literacy skills

Literacy growth and development of reading and writing abilities

Motivational reading and writing strategies and activities

Enrichment activities for fluent readers

 

  Summer Literacy Camp  (Summer semester) includes:

Identification of  learning problems

Mathematics, Reading and General Academic tutoring

 

WHO IS ELIGIBLE?

 Students who are experiencing difficulties with scholastic instruction from moderate to significant problems in Reading, Writing, and Math.
