The Center for Human-Machine Systems (CHMS) is a research center at CSU that works across disciplines and partners with the disability community to develop life-changing assistive and rehabilitation technologies. CHMS was awarded a $2 million grant <\/a> by the National Science Foundation under the National Research Traineeship (NRT <\/a>) program to support interdisciplinary research and the training of graduate students. CHMS will host a series of NRTea Time events this spring.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The\u00a0first NRTea Time <\/a>\u00a0will be held in\u00a0Berkman Hall Room 420 on February 29 at 11:30 am<\/strong>\u00a0and feature\u00a0Dr. Annalu Waller <\/a>, professor of Human Communication Technologies at the University of Dundee in Australia and Director of the Dundee Augmentative\u00a0and Alternative Communication (AAC) Research Group. She has been working in the field of AAC since 1985 and has centered her career around designing communication systems to assist nonspeaking individuals. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
