Welcome to the third issue of Crooked River. With this issue we continue our exploration of the social history of Cleveland. In this issue are stories involving members of Cleveland's emerging African-American community and a powerful examination of the 1937 steel strike in Cleveland. We also continue to publish research aids to facilitate the study of the past. In this issue is an examination of the rich holdings of the Black History Archives of the Western Reserve Historical Society and an exploration of the use of maps as historical documents. We also continue our publication of primary sources with the 1837 Ohio City Directory.
As always we urge you to plunge into Cleveland's past and to send us your comments.
