William Shakespeare was born in Stratford on Avon on April 23, 1564.

In 1582 Shakespeare married Anne Hathaway. They had three children, Susanna (1583), and twins, Hamnet and Judith (1585). For seven years Shakespeare disappears from all records, and nothing is known of the 1585, the birth of the twins, and his emergence as a playwright in London some time in 1592.

In 1594 Shakespeare became an actor and playwright for the Lord Chamberlainís Men, which became a favorite London troupe patronized by royalty and popular with the theatre-going public.

In 1599 he became a partner in the ownership of the Globe theatre, and in 1608 part owner of the Blackfriars theatre.† Shakespeare retired in 1613 to Stratford where he enjoyed a comfortable living until his death.

William Shakespeare died on April 23, 1616 and was interred at Holy Trinity in Stratford on April 25.†
