Valerie C. Williams

Director, Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP)

Video

Valerie C. Williams serves as the director in the Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP) within the Office of Special Education and Rehabilitative Services at the U.S. Department of Education. In this role, she is responsible for overseeing administration of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), which authorizes formula grants to states under IDEA Part B and to lead agencies for the infants and families program under IDEA Part C. IDEA also authorizes discretionary grants under IDEA Part D to institutions of higher education and other non-profit organizations to support grants for state personnel development, technical assistance and dissemination, technology, and parent training and information centers.

Andratesha Fritzgerald is an author, international speaker, presenter, and facilitator who exhibits an audacious perseverance that calls organizations to evolve into inclusive antiracist safe zones for all learners. She has over twenty years in education as a teacher, curriculum specialist, administrator and director.

Brian E. Harper, Ph.D., Esq.

Dr. Harper is an associate professor of Educational Psychology and licensed attorney. He has been recognized as distinguished faculty on multiple occasions by Cleveland State University. He is a a former teacher of mathematics and language arts. Dr. Harper has published four textbooks and more than two dozen articles on topics such as identity development, motivation, counterfactual learning and cultural responsiveness. He has also, both alone and with colleagues, secured more than $2 million dollars in external grant funding to support projects that facilitate learning and development for under-represented students in STEM fields.

Assistant Secretary, Office of Special Education and Rehabilitative Services

Glenna Wright-Gallo is the assistant secretary in the Office of Special Education and Rehabilitative Services at the United States Department of Education. In this capacity, she serves as advisor to the U.S. secretary of education on matters related to the education of children and youth with disabilities, as well as employment and community living for youth and adults with disabilities. The mission of her office is to improve early childhood, educational, and employment outcomes, and to raise expectations for all people with disabilities, their families, their communities, and the nation.

Wendy W. Murawski, Ph.D.,MBA, MEd, EdS, is the Executive Director and Eisner Endowed Chair for the Center for Teaching and Learning at California State University, Northridge (CSUN), where she is also a professor in the Department of Special Education and the Director of SIMPACT Immersive Learning. Dr. Murawski is the national Past President of the Teacher Education Division (TED) of CEC and an award-winning researcher, author, and educator, She is the CEO of 2 TEACH (www.2TeachLLC.com), an educational consulting company dedicated to promoting inclusive education, and 2 TEACH Global, championing inclusive education around the world.
