Cleveland State University

Dr. Rebecca Odom-Bartel (Becky) is an Assistant Professor in the College of Education and Public Affairs, School of Education and Counseling. Her research focuses on Computer Science Education. She is a graduate of the University of Alabama and has spent the last ten years working to advance computer science education in k-12 and college level settings.  Her experience is both in college classrooms and secondary education classrooms teaching programming, web-design, CS methods, and robotics. Dr. Becky’s research is tied closely to her passion for CS education and has worked on multiple NSF CS4ALL and DOE EIR grants focusing on building pathways for pre-service and in-service teachers to become confident and strong CS teachers. Additionally, Dr. Becky works closely with several organizations and educational institutions to assist in the development of equitable and inclusive methods of teaching and sharing CS curriculum to high school and college students. 

Dr. Chansu Yu is currently a Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the Cleveland State University in Cleveland, Ohio. Before joining the CSU, he was on the research staff at LG Electronics, Inc. for more than ten years. His research interests include mobile wireless networks, sensor networks, parallel and clustering computing, and performance modeling and evaluation.


Central State University

Dr. Lap Nguyen graduated from University of Central Florida with master’s and PhD in Education. He has been teaching at Central State University for six years and served as Dept Chair from 2021-2024.

Dr. Nguyen is very interested in CS education and even attended coding bootcamp in Summer 2022 to learn more about computer science and the lifecycle of software development.

His favorite grades to teach is Kindergarten and first grade.

Dr. Emdad Ahmed is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science, Central State University.

Dr. Emdad Ahmed received his Ph.D. in Computer Science from Wayne State University,  2011.
