Dr. Kelle DeBoth Foust is an Associate Professor in the Occupational Therapy Program at Cleveland State University, where she also serves as Co-Director of the PhD in Transdisciplinary Health, Sciences & Technology, Managing Director of the CSU TECH Hub and is Co-Founder of PLAAY (Participation and Leisure Allowing Access for everYone) on the Move. A licensed occupational therapist with over 20 years of clinical experience, her scholarship sits at the intersection of health equity, community-engaged research, and public interest technology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. DeBoth Foust’s research focuses on three interconnected areas: trauma-informed care for under-resourced children and families (The Building Resilience Program; buildingresilienceprogram.com), technology access and digital equity in underserved communities, and interprofessional education. She leads the TechBox program, which builds digital literacy and civic agency in East Side Cleveland youth, and directs the Internet of Things Community Advisory Board (ICAB), a governance structure that gives community members ongoing authority over emerging technology in their neighborhoods. With PLAAY on the Move, she has mentored undergraduate and graduate student researchers to explore markerless, AI motion capture systems to measure movement and indices of engagement. She is a two-time PIT-UN grantee, two-time AOTF grantee, and Co-PI on a $2 million NSF National Research Traineeship award. She has secured over $2.4 million in external funding and has been recognized with the CSU College of Health Outstanding Research Award, multiple Ohio Occupational Therapy Association Model Practice Awards, CSU United Vision Thrive Award (Inaugural Awardee), and she received the CSU Distinguished Faculty Award for Teaching.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Madalynn Wendland, PhD, PT, DPT, ATP<\/h1>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Madalynn Wendland recieved her Bachelor of Science in physical therapy from the Ohio State University. She then earned her post-professional doctorate from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, and a PhD from Youngstown State University. She is a Board-Certified Pediatric Clinical Specialist in 2008 (though the American Physical Therapy Association), Assistive Technology Professional in 2007 (through the Rehabilitation and Engineering Society of North America), and was selected to participate in the Launch Leadership Certification program in 2016 (through the National Association of Neonatal Therapists). Dr. Wendland worked clinically as a pediatric physical therapist, developing programs related to the early identification and treatment of childhood neurodevelopmental disabilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Wendland began teaching part-time for the Department of Physical Therapy at Cleveland State University in 2005, and moved into a full-time position in 2013. Dr. Wendland currently serves as the Associate Dean for Curriculum and Operations for the College of Health. In her time at Cleveland State University, she co-founded the PLAAY on the Move program. She has served as a co-investigator in a variety of grant-related projects including the use of developmental assessments to identify children at risk for neuromotor delays, the implementation of early, targeted interventions including the use of low-cost technologies for children with mobility and sensory impairments, as well as assessing the impact of interprofessional education on health-professional students. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
