At Sikder Lab, our mission is to develop cutting-edge regenerative medicine therapies that restore lost tissues and regain functionality. We focus on treating orthopedic, musculoskeletal, spinal, and dental defects, leveraging advanced biomaterials and patient-specific implant design to drive innovation in tissue regeneration. 

Our expertise lies in engineering and validating multi-functional biomaterials and stimuli-responsive “smart” implants that actively enhance the regenerative cascade. By integrating additive and advanced manufacturing techniques, we create next-generation implants tailored to individual patient needs, promoting faster and more effective tissue repair for bone, skeletal muscle, and gum regeneration. 

Currently, we have NIH-funded projects that focus on developing standalone bioactive and antibacterial dental implants for preventing peri-implantitis, extracellular vesicle-based therapies for treating musculoskeletal injuries, and ‘smart’ electroactive implants for treating volumetric muscle loss-based defects and injuries.
